Described by The Daily Telegraph as “a charming young vicar”, James has been the Vicar at St Francis’ since August 2011, having previously served four years as Curate in Bursledon, in the Diocese of Winchester. He is passionate about seeing people’s lives changed as they encounter God and equipping God’s church to enable that to happen.
James is currently working on finishing an MA in Theology of Mission and Ministry and his research focuses on how liturgy can be used to equip congregations for missional living. He is a member of St Albans Diocesan Synod and Luton Deanery Standing Committee.
In whatever spare time he can muster, James can usually be found messing around with computers in various forms (including gaming). Prior to training for ordained ministry, he worked in IT and likes to “keep his hand in”. He’s a passionate supporter of Liverpool Football Club, having grown up on Merseyside and is a musician, playing ‘cello (although somewhat lapsed), guitar and percussion.
James is married to Amanda and they have two children: Callum and Deborah.
