An Urgent Appeal

Emergency Appeal
The recent fire at the Asda superstore in Wigmore has come as a real blow to Luton Foodbank. We get
on average 500 items of food per week from our trolley in Asda, and now we need to try to fill that gap.
We are currently giving out an average of 203 food parcels per week and we cannot continue to meet
that demand without the help of the local community.
How Can Your Church Help?
Lent is a time for giving up those things that get in the way of our relationship with God, for repentance
and preparation for the joy of Easter Sunday. During this time, it is also good to donate to charity.
Would you be able to hold a food drive, or encourage your congregation to give extra food during this
period? I have enclosed some copies of our shopping list, which details the items that we need, but we
particularly need Tinned Fruit, Instant Noodles, Rice and Cereal. It would be wonderful if you could
bring the food to us, but we will also be able to collect from you, just contact us using the details below.
Thank you for all your support,
Kind regards
Lynne Sandle
